We carried out the first activity of the new academic year with Yeditepe Women in Business Club at their Kayışdağı Campus. The level of participation in the activity was intense (42) through the successful organisation of Rümeysa Turan, Yeditepe WIB President, and her friends. We played our game twice at 14:00 and 15:30. The games facilitated by Melek Sine Berkem, Gül Üstün and Azize Namdar, were again welcomed with excitement, lots of discussions and joy. Club students gave our association a plaque expressing their appreciation.

One of the participants stated that number of gender equality awareness activities should increase and added “There are a number of negative expressions established in our culture regarding the place of women in society. For example, in Konya, they say ‘girls talk among the copper market’ emphasizing that even if we, the women, shout, our voice will not be heard due to the noise created by men. Yet, we can contribute to transformation of this culture by both taking part in business life and augmenting our voice and existence in every field. We can introduce different perspectives, change the prejudices, by giving gender equality trainings to different groups”. 

We learnt that Yeditepe WIB Club performs activities supporting gender equality for students in elementary and secondary schools. They stated that they were too satisfied with the results of the ChangEquality in Work game, and wanted to become not only ambassador but also develop further projects with children by obtaining the Social Equality Kit (TEK). Therefore, we presented the TEK game they won directly to the WIB Club. Yeditepe WIB, also participated in the ‘ChangEquality Ambassadors’ Programme, and eventually had both ChangEquality in Work and TEK games. We were very happy with contribution of the students themselves to the sustainability of the project.
